01What Storzy sets
Every cookie below is first-party - set on the address you are visiting and readable only there. There are no advertising cookies and nothing that follows you to another website. One of them, the analytics cookie, is set by the provider that counts visits for the merchant; it is served through Storzy's own domain, so it is still first-party, but the page views it measures are sent on to that provider. What they receive is in the privacy policy.
| Cookie | Purpose and lifetime |
|---|---|
| ph_<id>_posthog | Set by our analytics provider to recognise the same browser across pages of a shop so a single visitor is not counted as many. Holds a random identifier, not a name or email. Expires after one year. |
| storzy_cart | The items in your cart. Readable only by the server, never by scripts in the page. Expires after 30 days. |
| Session cookies | Keeps you signed in. Set only after you sign in, and cleared when you sign out. Merchant accounts and shopper accounts use separate cookies that cannot read each other. |
02Necessary and analytics cookies
The cart and sign-in cookies are strictly necessary: without them a cart empties on the next page and signing in does nothing.
The analytics cookie is not necessary in that sense - the shop works without it. It exists so a merchant can see how many people visited rather than how many pages were loaded, and it holds a random identifier and nothing else.
You can delete or block any of these in your browser settings. Blocking the analytics one leaves the shop working exactly as it does now; blocking the necessary ones will stop the cart and sign-in from working.
03Merchant shops
A shop built on Storzy runs on the cookies above. If a merchant adds their own tracking to their shop, that is theirs to disclose, and their own cookie policy is where it should appear.
